Creating a registry was one of my favorite parts of being pregnant, but it was also a bit stressful. I remember getting worked up about how much I felt like we needed for the twins (did we really need two of everything?!) and worrying if we would get what was on my registry or not! In my case, my family and friends really came through for us at our baby shower. We had so much stuff to haul back to our house after the shower that it took about 5-6 cars to get everything there.
That being said, I maaaay have went a little bit overboard looking back on it, and there are surely some things we could do without. Let's talk about what is really needed to survive your first year with twins! I am not talking about cribs or car seats - all babies need those! These are my twin-specific registry must haves:
Twin Z Pillow : You'd be hard-pressed to find a twin mom who said this wasn't their Holy Grail. Did you know it actually is a 6-in-1 pillow? My favorite part of this pillow is the back support it provides to moms.
Twin Nursery Center : I love a product that has multi-uses, and this is one of the best I've seen. To start, it has two removable rocking bassinets that have an electronic music center complete with volume control, a nightlight, and vibration capabilities. It includes two styles of music and nature sounds. It also has a changing center, parent organizer for diapers or wipes, and the ability to be used as a play yard. So. Much. Functionality!!
Baby Brezza : When I was making my registry, this product was a recommendation from other parents of multiples that I talked to online. Twins obviously need to be fed twice as much as singletons, so it makes sense that this Baby Brezza is a life saver that makes all those extra feedings quick and easy. (I know plenty of singleton parents who swear by it as well, like my sister-in-law!)
Twin Diaper Bag : This was one of the first gifts I opened when I got home from my baby shower, and I was blown away by how big it was! I love that it's expandable, so you can keep it at the standard backpack size if you're traveling light. There are enough compartments for it to remain functional without becoming overwhelming.
Twin Car Monitor : Skip the mirrors, get this monitor for an extra peace of mind while traveling in the car with the babies.
Twin Nursery Monitor : There are tons of nursery monitors to choose from, but I chose this monitor specifically because I love that you can either use the monitor to watch the babies OR use an app on your phone.
Joovy Twin Roo : Another recommendation backed up by TONS of other parents of multiples. This stroller is a must-have for traveling with the twins by yourself. Picture this: you have to take the babies to a doctor's appointment during the first few months. You're exhausted and running on no sleep as it is. Do you really want to carry a carseat in each arm along with a diaper bag all the way from your car into the doctor's office? NO. THANK. YOU! Get it, and thank me later.
I hope this list makes navigating the first year with twins just a teensy bit easier for you. Parents of multiples definitely can use all the help we can get.
(PS: I would love to hear from other twin moms below if there is anything else that should be included on this list!)
